The purpose of the club is to promote cycling as a sport in general and shall be called Velo Club Cumbria.

The club colours shall be red, gold, blue or black.
|

Membership is open to both sexes with interests in cycling.

The annual subscription should be paid by the 30th of November of each year. Anyone not paying by this time will not receive immediate insurance cover by the CTC and will not be allowed to ride club events until payment and cover is received.

All members are obliged to abide by the Highway Code.

The annual general meeting will normally be held on the second Tuesday of November each year.

All items for the agenda of any general meeting should reach the general secretary not less than 10 days prior to the meeting.

Only first claim members may hold official positions.

The following officials must be elected each year:
Chairman, General Secretary, Treasurer, CTT Secretary, BCF Secretary, Press Secretary and President.

Those elected shall form the committee with a minimum of three other members.

The financial year shall run from the 1st of October until the 30th of September.

The treasurer shall prepare a balance sheet and subsidiary accounts that shall be audited by an independent auditor.

The current treasurer and one other from three nominated committee members shall sign club cheques.

A member shall be liable for expulsion from the club for unseemly conduct deemed offensive and prejudicial to the club, on a vote of two thirds of the membership present at any meeting called.

The majority of the committee at any committee meeting shall form a quorum. A quorum to be not less than one third of those eligible to attend.

Any person representing the club at any other meetings must forward a report to the committee or table it at the AGM.

Any person carrying out any function in the clubs name must first have it cleared by the Chairman and Secretary.

All perpetual trophies are to be returned three weeks before the annual dinner/prize presentation.

At the date fixing meeting held in September members will be asked to nominate, then elect the winner of the Brian Blake award by secret ballot.

All claimants to club records must first have them authenticated then present them to the club statistician for verification. Records should be placed in the end of season newsletter.

Any member holding club equipment must register this with the treasurer.

Alterations to the club rules may only be made at the annual general meeting with the consent of the majority of members present or at a special meeting called for that purpose.

Any member with a problem relating to the club may ask a committee member to call a meeting of the club on their behalf and which they are eligible to attend.

The youth development section of Velo Club Cumbria catering for children aged six to sixteen is known as Lakeland Sprinters.

Lakeland Sprinters come under the auspices of the Velo Club Cumbria constitution and club rules. Although a sub committee controls the management of the group, constitutional items must be put to the main club committee.

The club must pursue an active membership policy, in the interests of future development and insurance protection.
