A rolling 16 mile circuit of Bassenthwaite Lake on mainly single carriageway A-roads followed by a 9 mile
part of the L1010 course. This course is rarely used but provides an alternative to the L2511 if the
upper (north) section on the A66 is reduced to one lane temporarily whilst repairs are done to the road.

START (OS Landranger Series Sheet 89 Grid Ref NY215283) at the Keswick end of the lay-by
at the Bassenthwaite Lake side of the A66, 0.4 miles southeast of the Thornthwaite junction, at a
mark on kerb 2.5 metres from the first grid cover.
Proceed in a south-easterly direction along the A66 to the Keswick
roundabout at the junction with the A591 Keswick/Bothell road (4.39 miles).
Take the first exit on to
the A591 heading to Bothel and proceed along this road until the Castle Inn T-junction (10.96 miles).
Turn left and proceed along the B5291 over Ouse Bridge (12.08 miles) and turn left (sharp left - caution) and procedd
through intersection with unclassified road (old A66) 150 yards before A66 (caution - traffic approaching from right).
Turn left on to A66 (12.84 miles - caution) and retrace along A66 past the start roundabout at the junction
with the A591 Keswick/Bothell road (20.25 miles).
Encircle roundabout and head back north west along the A66 to FINISH (NY218275) 20 yards past Thornthwaite
junction where the road widens (25 miles).
The HQ is at the bus turning circle (NY214282) on the west side of the A66 just as the
dual-carriage starts/finishes There are no changing, toilet or
shower facilities at the HQ. For open events the HQ is at the Thornthwaite Junction.
