Course Description

START (OS Landranger Series Sheet 89 Grid Ref NY215283) in the lay-by at the Bassenthwaite Lake side of the A66 road at the south-eastern end of the dual carriageway in line with the white mark 5 yards west of the south-easterly end of the tarmac footpath section. Proceed in a south-easterly direction along the A66 to encircle the Keswick roundabout at the junction with the A591 Keswick/Bothell road (5.3 miles). Retrace along the A66 to FINISH (NY221273) at the white mark at grate in the roadside immediately east of a farm gateway approximately 0.2 miles before the Thornthwaite T-junction and 0.8 miles short of the start (10 miles).

HQ Description

For open events the HQ is based around two small car parks on either side of the unclassified road which leads to Thorthwaite from the A66 immediately after you turn of the A66 (NY218276). For some club events, in particular those put on by VC Cumbria on a Tuesday night, the HQ is at the bus turning circle (NY214282) about half a mile north of the normal open HQ. Some clubs may use the open event HQ for their club events - if in doubt visit both locations to find out where the sign on sheet is. In either case there are no changing, toilet or shower facilities at the HQ.
