START (OS Landranger Series Sheet 89 Grid Ref NY129298) at the turning in to the back of Cockermouth
Grammer School approximately 100 yards south east of the Strawberry How Road junction with the B5292. Head
south east along the B5292 over Hundith Hill and dropping down in to Lorton Vale. Take left fork to
follow B5292 towards High Lorton and ascent of Whinlatter Pass. Climb to summit of Whinlatter Pass at
1043 feet (318 metres) and FINISH (NY255245) at end of dry stone wall on edge of small carpark approximately
100 yards west of turning to Whinlatter Visitors Centre.
After turning off the B5292 in Cockermouth follow the Strawberry How Road for 100 yards past the Grammer
School and turn left up steep hill to car park opposite rugby club.
