VC Cumbria's prize presentation is on is on Tuesday 19th April starting at 8pm 'ish' in Eaglesfield Village Hall - following the Embleton 10.

Unfortunately, we no longer have anybody maintaining the VC Cumbria website and the publishing of race results and league tables. We urgently require somebody to take on this role as the 2011 season is already upon us. If you are willing to give it a try, please contact and I will pass on all you need. The rides planned for before the Lakeland Sprinters presentation lunch on 28th November 2010 have been cancelled due to the snowy weather conditions. The lunch will go ahead as planned, please arrive at 12 noon for a 12.30pm start.

Hopefully those who could make the 21st can still make the 28th, and the few who couldn't make the 21st may now be able to join us.

Lakeland MBO weekend 6th-7th November 2010 - Whinlatter and Grizedale Forests

Rounds 9 and 10 of the National MBO League. Also part of the XCC winter league.

Two events in typical Lakeland forest. Forest roads with tough climbs and fast descents, but featuring some little known single track and purpose made cycle trails. Emphasis will be on route choice and reading the contours to achieve the optimum route.

We had the AGM on the 19th of October, very disappointingly we only had 11 clubs out of 31 in attendance.One of the items that was discussed at length was the list that Matt has of club contacts. Can you all make sure that Matt is forwarded the name and contact details of the person in your club who is to receives any correspondence concerning NLTTA matters. We are 2 committee members short, if you or any club member fancies coming onto the committee please let Matt know. We have 3 meetings and the AGM during the year and I would like to see a couple of younger active members to come forward. The dinner will be held at Scorton Priory on Sunday the 14th of November, 1200pm for 1230pm start. The Guest of Honour will be Daniel Shand. The cost will be £14-00. Tim's Birthday ride scheduled for 10/9/2010 will unfortunately have to move from being a 55 mile celebration ride this year to a 56 mile celebration ride next year.

Many of you will know that Tim Houghton badly injured his knee in a cycling accident earlier this year and he is going into hospital next week to have it sorted. Unfortunately, his 55 mile Birthday ride a couple of weeks later is not recommended in his rehab plan, hence the postponement.

We all wish Tim a successful operation and speedy recovery (under the hour maybe!) and look forward to riding with him soon.

Many thanks to Julian who has promoted an open event for VC Cumbria for the last six years. Unfortunately for the club, Julian will be taking a break from promoting for a while and just concentrating on marshaling and racing. Consequently, his very successful 25TT last weekend is his last and if anyone would like to hold the same open event next year please give him a call. He can then complete the paperwork and that way the club keeps the same date for its event for next season.

It's important for the club and all our members that we contribute to the cycling calendar by putting on open events, so please somebody step up to the mark.

I firstly apologise for not keeping the results and league tables up to date very regularly. I realise that the results are very important to riders and that it helps to spur you on to do even faster times.

I now have a number of other websites to look after and as I'm not racing I am finding this site is being neglected. I'm sure if someone with more time took it on then it could be more dynamic and better for stimulating and maintaining interest in the club.

The Great Cycle Tour is taking part on 11th August. The following details have been confirmed:

The group of riders will be arriving into Whitehaven at around 4pm. We have been informed that unfortunately Daley Thompson is now no longer taking part.

If your club would still like to accompany the group of cyclists into Whitehaven I just need to know approx numbers. The organization in charge of the Great Cycle tour have asked that anyone from your club joining in needs to be over 16years because of their insurance.

Once they arrive at the Beacon there will be refreshments with the Mayor.

If you let me know if you would still like to be involved asap then I can let the organizers know.

After over 30 years of continuous service to CTT North District, Brenda Jackson has decided to stand down as Assistant Secretary (Open Events) at the AGM in late September. Brenda held the post of North District General Secretary from 1979 until 2008 and has served as Assistant Secretary for the last two years. The District is indebted to Brenda for the tireless work which she has done for local timetrialling over this long period.

Also at the AGM, I have decided not to seek re-election as Chairman, though I am prepared to continue as Treasurer if elected.

The two vacancies will be communicated with the formal notice to be circulated to North District clubs nearer the time of the AGM, but can you please spread the word through your membership so that anyone interested in the positions can have time to check out what is involved well before the AGM.

Brenda and myself are happy to discuss the positions with potential candidates and our contact details can be found on page 29 of the current CTT handbook.

Lakeland Sprinters are putting on a Go-Ride Racing event on Saturday 17th July, 1pm at Wath Brow Sports Field.

Go-Ride Racing is British Cycling's exciting entry level competition programme which offers local competition for novice cyclists under the age of 16, helping young people make a gradual transition into competitive cycling. A British Cycling racing licence is NOT required and the events are strictly aimed at novice racing cyclists.

British Cycling is aware that there is a big step up from school and club coaching sessions to open regional competition. Young people who are new to the sport, whether they have joined a Go-Ride club or simply taken part in school coaching sessions can find the concept of racing very daunting. Turning up at your first race to find that a lot of the riders have far greater experience and what looks like very specialist equipment has often proved to be a barrier to competition for many riders new to the sport.

There will be cyclo-cross/mountain bike races for youngsters 16 and under. Entry £2. Contact Don Morrison on 01946 830956.

A terrible accident earlier today involving a Keswick School bus and a car has resulted in three people being killed and many being injured.

The club members offer their condolences to the families and friends of all those who lost their life and our thoughts are with all who have been affected by this tragedy

In light of these events it has been decided to cancel the Keswick 10 club event on Tuesday 25th May.

Just a reminder about the 100TT on June 26th. I have 4 marshals at present and we have a NLTTA meeting on June 7th were one of the items on the agenda will be the 100tt. If I have not got enough marshals by that date I will have no alternative but to cancel the event. Can you all please contact members of your clubs to resolve this problem, without the 100 the NLTTA Bar will be a non event.
